Childrens’ Choice Awards
In 2010 CBI introduced a new Children’s Choice award to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the CBI Book of the Year Awards. Special Junior Juries were selected between January and March 2013 and they chose the Children’s Choice winner for the 2013 awards, Grounded by Sheena Wilkinson. The Junior Juries are drawn from a number of dedicated school and library-based groups, who have been taking part in the Awards Shadowing Scheme for one or more year.
These Junior Juries are challenged to read, critique and debate all the titles from the 2013 shortlist, before voting on their favourite in early May. The Children’s Choice award was decided solely on the results of these ten juries and announced at the winners’ ceremony in Dublin.
