> Who are CBI?      
 
Children’s Books Ireland was founded in 1997 as a result of the merger of The Irish Children’s Book Trust and The Children’s Literature Association of Ireland. CBI is a registered charity and is core funded by The Arts Council of Ireland. Membership of CBI is open to both organisations and individuals. CBI works with both children and adults across Ireland. You can read more about our plans and ambitions in our Strategic Plan and you can read more about our activities and achievements in our Annual Reports.

What does CBI do?
       
 
CBI is involved in many activities and aims to engage young people with books, create greater understanding of the importance of books for young people and resource everyone with an interest in books for children.  Activities include The Children’s Book Festival , Bisto Book of the Year Award, Inis Magazine, Annual Conference, Research Projects and our advocacy strategy.

Does CBI publish children’s books?
       
 
No. CBI is not a publisher or an agent.  To see a list of Irish publishers for children click here . To access information about publishing in Ireland, please contact Cle – the publishers association.

Does CBI sell or distribute children’s books?      
 
No. CBI is not a retailer or distributor.

What does membership of CBI offer?
       
 
Membership of CBI includes four issues of our quarterly magazine Inis and copies of Book Fest: The recommended reading guide, as well as the Children's Book Festival Event Guide and other publications. Members also receive reduced entry to all our events for adults.
By joining CBI, you become part of a larger representative body highlighting the importance of books for young people.

Do I have to be a member to attend CBI events?
       
 

No, CBI events are open to everyone to attend although members receive a significant discount for the annual conference.
