The Ireland Section of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBbY Ireland) is a non-profit organisation that promotes children's books at an international level. It endorses all the aims and objectives of the International Parent body, founded in 1953, of people from all over the world who are committed to bringing books and children together. http://www.ibbyireland.ie/

IBbY Ireland produces a regular e-newsletter with details of IBbY Ireland activities as well as information about other key events and activities for children’s literature in Ireland and internationally. interchilddigitlibr.gifThe International Children's Digital Library
5000 on-line books from all around world, a very interesting overview of what children read and to what they have access, but incredibly--no book from Ireland! From the better-known countries the books are quite old (some dating back to the 19th century) but from anywhere that would be unusual to an Irish reader/researcher, the books are fairly recent.

The Looking Glass
The Looking Glass: New Perspectives on Children's Books is an electronic journal about children's literature. The site was launched April 2, 1997 (International Children's Book Day). It combines an interest in the traditional with an eye to the modern. Its readers and contributors are academics, librarians, teachers, parents and anyone else fascinated by the world of children's literature. Free access to archives and current issues, submission guidelines for articles, text and illustration, websites etc.

kevpic.jpgKay E. Vandergrift's Website
Professor Vandergrift's goals when creating this website were firstly to promote more and better theoretical and critical knowledge of children's literature and secondly to provide practical assistance in the teaching of that literature. Very rich, full of articles on various topics/authors/age groups. But beware of getting lost in the maze-like successions of links.
