What are we reading this week?!
Quite a mixed bag as it turns out! Feast your eyes on all the books we’ve been devouring this week at CBI Towers…
Greedy Jenny is reading not one, but two books: Insurgent by Veronica Roth and Fracture by Megan Miranda. Jenny has just started Insurgent and is really looking forward to it, having been a big fan of Divergent. She’s also only just started
Fracture, and there’s already a suspicious “Troy” on the horizon. Intriguing! Jen has an inkling that the heroine of the story, Delaney Maxwell can either sense death or cause people to die, but she’s not sure which yet. At the beginning of the book, Delaney fell through a frozen lake but was rescued by her friend Decker Phillips. Jenny picks the books with the best character names!
Here is Aoife with her little friend who helps keep her page for her, and Patrick Ness’ Monsters of Men, the finale of his thrilling and thought-provoking Chaos Walking trilogy. Aoife reckons it’s a must for any teen or adult reader.
Mags is savouring every bit of Martin Salisbury’s Children’s Picturebooks. She’s really enjoying dipping in and out of it (and hiding behind it!), and is particularly excited to read about all the fabulous Irish illustrators featured.
This week Nicola is reading The Duckling Gets a Cookie!? by Mo Willems (she’s a slow reader!). Mo Willems can do no wrong in Nicola’s eyes, and the indignant pigeon might be her very favourite of his characters, so she’s having a good giggle at this new title.
And as if that wasn’t enough, we’re also re-reading this lot!
Behold the beautiful picture books of our brand-new Laureate na nÓg, the glorious Niamh Sharkey! We’re delighted to have an excuse (not that we needed one!) to get re-aquainted with Niamh’s rather impressive body of work, and are looking forward to a fun-filled two years with Niamh as Laureate!
Now, what about you?! Are you reading anything good this week? Do tell us about it in the comments below!
