London 2012 Loves Children’s Books!
Here at CBI towers we are still bowled over by the Olympic Games opening ceremony on Friday night! The light-up beds! The cute kids! The many Mary Poppins! The massive Voldemort! The statistics are astonishing with 1 BILLION people across the globe tuning in to see the works of British children’s authors like J.M. Barrie, J.K. Rowling, P. L. Travers and Ian Fleming (have we missed any??) being celebrated on a truly international stage. How exciting and awe inspiring!
Of course, we shouldn’t have expected any less from the dream team of Director Danny Boyle and writer Frank Cottrell Boyce, Frank being an especial CBI favourite. Click here for a fab article, penned by Frank, about how it all came together. Its really marvellous to think of the massive scale of the project and Danny and Frank’s dedication to the cause is enough to bring a tear to the eye. Well done to everyone involved!
We’ve definitely got Olympic fever now and are excited to be able to give away some great sports and London themed books on our facebook page. Head over there now for Monday’s question. Oh, and click here to see which of Ireland Olympic’s athletes are doing us proud in London today.
