January is Nearly Over!
Here on North Great Georges Street we cannot believe January is almost behind us! Our first big event of the year is over and what an event it was- Laureates in Conversation, with Siobhán Parkinson and Julia Donaldson joining forces! It was an honour to welcome Julia to Dublin in her role as the UK Waterstones Children’s Laureate and also may thanks to Dr. Amanda Piesse of TCD for chairing the talk. If you weren’t able to make it or want to relive the conversation, read all about it on Michelle Moloney King’s blog!
This week we’re asking you to vote for public libraries nationwide. Back in November, we chose Clondalkin library as as ‘interesting library’! Now we’re making this occasional series into a Library of the Month competition. This month CBI facebook friends have been nominating their local or favourite Irish public library by ‘liking’ the CBI facebook page, sharing a photo of the library in question and telling us why its so special. At the end of January each nominated library for this month will go head to head in a vote for the eventual winner! CBI will be delighted to donate a special book to each winning library. Head over to our facebook page now to get nominating- the vote will take place later this week!

Hi guys,
Thanks so so so so so much for the mention.
I loved attending the event, and when I sub in a new school I tell them that their teacher metaome pretty cool writers and writerly people at Laureates in Co versatile event. Children love that their teacher has had interesting experiences and it certainly makes the world of books so much more accessible to them.

I am mucho morto about my TST (touch screen typos)
I meant to say that children love knowing that I met some pretty cool writerly peeps. Espicially the ones I met at the Laureates in Conversation event!
There…phew…defo no TST’s in this one!
